Tamil Nadu Artist Sets World Record with Largest Chalk Portrait of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin
Chennai, Tamil Nadu – August 17, 2024 — In an extraordinary display of artistic ambition and collaborative spirit, M. Muniaswamy, Founder and President of Oviyalaya Trust, has set a new world record by creating the largest chalk portrait art, spanning a stunning 10,000 square feet. The massive artwork, portraying Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, was unveiled on August 17, 2024, in Tamil Nadu, India.

The record-breaking portrait was not a solo feat. It was brought to life through the dedication and creativity of 150 students from Oviyalaya Trust and Oviyalaya Art School, institutions founded and guided by Muniaswamy with the mission of nurturing young artistic talent. The artwork was meticulously crafted using chalk—a medium known for its impermanence and fragility—making the achievement all the more impressive.
Speaking at the unveiling event, M. Muniaswamy expressed his gratitude to the students and supporters of the Trust. “This portrait is a tribute not just to our Chief Minister, but to the spirit of unity, creativity, and youth empowerment. Art has the power to bring people together and break boundaries, and today we’ve proven that.”
The portrait received wide acclaim from local dignitaries, art enthusiasts, and the public alike. Its scale and execution not only celebrate the contributions of M.K. Stalin to the state but also shine a spotlight on the role of art in education and community building.
This accomplishment adds yet another feather to the cap of Oviyalaya Trust, which has been actively promoting arts education and organizing exhibitions, workshops, and community outreach programs across Tamil Nadu. The success of this project reflects the Trust’s commitment to pushing creative boundaries and fostering a vibrant cultural landscape.
The record-setting chalk portrait is now being considered for entry into national and international record books and is expected to inspire similar community-driven art initiatives across the country.
